One of the best things about working at a farmers’ market? Trying all the other vendors’ goodies! You wouldn’t really know it by the weather, but my itchy eyes and leaky nose say that Spring has definitely sprung. Instead of heading for the pharmacy, I thought I’d pass up the Claritin and other expensive medication and try some good old fashioned local honey. The theory is that consuming local honey is a good way of introducing pollen from the surrounding environment to the body and allowing your system to build up immunity to the allergens. It’s worth a shot. There’s only so much blowing of the nose my poor nostrils can take.
Got this bottle today from Honey Bear Farm, located in Olympia. Thank you to owner Karen Rogers, I can’t wait to try it!
